Q. Are these real diamonds or real rubies?
A. No. Aahana is imitation jewellery. The white stones are AAA-grade cubic zirconia, sold across India as American Diamond, and the pink stone is a ruby-pink coloured stone, not a mined ruby. The metal is an alloy and brass base with a silver-tone and gold-tone polish over it — not silver, and not gold.
Q. What is included in the set?
A. One pendant and one matching pair of earrings. The chain is not included, so you can hang the pendant on whatever length suits your neckline. Choose a plain chain with no stonework of its own — the pendant is detailed enough on its own.
Q. What is Ganga Jamuna polish?
A. A traditional two-tone finish, where one metal tone is set against another on a single piece. The name comes from the Ganga and the Jamuna meeting — two different waters in one place. On Aahana the body is silver-toned with gold-tone accents worked into the openwork, which means the piece is not locked to one metal tone and sits comfortably against gold zari and silver zari alike.

A. A paisley — the mango or kairi shape that runs through Indian textile and jewellery design. The inside is worked as open jaali rather than filled, which is what keeps a pendant this size from looking heavy, and it is why the set weighs only about 10 g.

A. Screw back. The back threads on rather than pushing on, so it will not work loose over a long evening.
